Extra Warmth for Young Calves When the Weather Turns

The Kerbl 14149 ThermoPlus Calf Jacket – 80cm is designed to help young calves retain body heat during cold, wet and draughty conditions, making it particularly useful through winter calving and colder periods.

The jacket combines a tough 600 denier ripstop polyester outer with a 200g polyfleece filling. Kerbl rates the outer material as water-repellent up to a 3,000mm water column, while its breathable construction helps reduce excessive sweating.

Designed with Calf Rearing in Mind

Rather than being a simple blanket, the ThermoPlus has an anatomical chest and belly fastening system to provide a secure fit. The closures also feature additional hook-and-loop security.

Kerbl recommends calf blankets particularly for newborn and young calves during their first weeks, including animals housed in outdoor calf igloos and draughty buildings.

Particularly Useful During Winter Calving

Cold stress can be a particular concern with young calves, especially during sudden weather changes or in exposed housing. A calf jacket provides an additional insulating layer to help reduce heat loss while the calf is young.

Kerbl states that calf blankets are generally worn for around three to four weeks, although they may be used for longer where necessary. The manufacturer specifies this ThermoPlus jacket for individual rather than group housing.
